2nd - The weather was much better this week, perfect for shooting and this was reflected in the attendance, 75 shooters today which is great. Our setup lads did another brilliant job making it a really enjoyable event. Today's shoot was the last in our 2024/25 season, our next meeting on the 16th March will be the Margaret Mitchell Individual Trophy shoot. Following that, we have our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 26th March, 8.00pm at The Central Club, Batley, details of the venue can be found at the foot of our fixtures page. As usual, our hosts are Mick & Tracey who always give us a warm welcome. Come along and learn about your club and how it is run, everyone is welcome.

February 2025
16th - 73 shooters today, another challenging setup from our setup team, 5 stands again as we expected numbers to be down due to a cold start, difficult to predict so apologies for a bit of queuing.

2nd - Poor weather for today's shoot that reflected in the number attending, still a good shoot was had with just 5 stands.

January 2025
19th - This weeks shoot was well attended with 78 shooters, it was the Veteran's Trophy Shoot with a separate 50 Sporting shoot, for those members under 55. Another good setup with the Veteran's shoot being won by Mr. B. Blades and the 50 Sporting won by Mr. S. Lindley.

12th - We did manage to put a shoot on the weekend following the bad weather, to get our fixtures back on track. Understandably attendance was down to just 41 shooters as the track into the wood was still frozen. Despite a cold start, the weather did improve and it turned out to be a nice day to shoot.

5th - Unfortunately, due to the weather we had to cancel today's shoot. The good news is that we will be putting the shoot on Next Sunday 12th January, the Boxing Day High Gun shoot off will be on that day. Hope to see you then.
December 2024
6th - Boxing Day - Today was our popular Boxing Day High Gun Shoot. The weather was kind to us and we had a good turnout of 77 shooters including 22 guest shooters facing a six stand setup including a Rabbit.
Thanks to members donations, we had a good selection of prizes for our free members raffle and the winner of our free clays draw was Mr. D. Rowe. We had four shooters in the top position, Mr. G. Fishwick, Mr. J.A. Thompson, Mr. L. Aveyard and Mr. M. Sinclair on 42, well shot lads on what was a challenging setup. There will be a shoot off at our next meet on 05th January 2026. Thank you to all that attended, we hope that you enjoyed it.
8th - Despite the severe weather warning, we actually had a mostly dry shoot yesterday, of course it did rain when it was our turn to shoot but that is the norm! It was a bit breezy with the clays dancing around above the tree line. We still had a good attendance with 68 shooters in total.
We also had the November Colt Trophy shoot off between Mstr. J. Demir and Mstr. K. Galley. This is a handicap shoot, the lads both scored 30 so it was a tight competition, J. Demir was the winner, well done mate and commiserations to K. Galley who did really well for a young age.
K. Galley did win the Colt shoot earlier in the year so he will have a trophy for the mantlepiece at our AGM in March.

November 2024
24th - We had joint winners of our Handicap Colt Trophy today, K. Galley and J. Demir with a score of 50, well-done lads, and well done to O. Rowe for coming second. Today was another enjoyable shoot despite the weather being a bit wet during setting up, luckily the rain stayed off for the shoot so thank you to those shooters who risked getting wet today.
There will be a shoot off to decide the winner of today's competition, which will be held on the 8th of December.
Slightly down on numbers today with 57 attending.
Many thanks to those who donated prizes for our Boxing Day shoot, much appreciated. We are open to any other donations to make our raffle a good one on the day, cheers guys.

10th - Another great setup today by our setting up team, well-done lads. Today was our Remembrance Sunday shoot with 2 minutes silence at 11.00am to honour the fallen, which was respected by all. Well done Andy Read, High Gun with 41. The TV raffle raised £60 for club funds, won by Darren Jones. The free clays raffle was won by Karl Voellner and this raised a further £28 for the club. Thanks to all that attended, 61 in total.

1st - Steve Hosty, Liam and myself installed a new bridge, replacing the one that had totally collapsed. This is the one that is used for setting up the top stand, to get the traps up there as required. We aim to replace the other bridge next to the main track that leads to our upper stand area as soon as possible, we just need to acquire some timber in order to do this work.
October 2024
27th - Another well attended shoot for our H. Benson All Round competition, won today by Mick Jones with a score of 43, well done Mick. We put on a Rabbit stand as part of our 6 stand setup. 74 attendees in total, thank you to all that attended and made today an enjoyable event. Our next shoot is on the 10th November where we will be observing the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Sunday.

13th - Six stands were put on again today, another challenging shoot with 74 people attending.
We continued to make use of the lower area in the wood which allowed us to put on a new set of targets today which proved popular, well-done to the setup lads. The raffle for 50 free clays was won by Mr. D. Jones.
September 2024
The truck was pressure/steam jetted to clean it prior to the MOT which it passed easily, the examiner when asked said that there was plenty of life still left in the truck which is good news.
The gate was once more rammed by a stolen vehicle that was then burnt out. The gate has been repaired again with plans for us to erect a 2nd barrier in front to deter these clowns.
CCTV cameras were also renewed opposite the wood entrance to monitor fly tipping which up to press has worked.

July 2024
We have now introduced a Rabbit stand in the lower wood area which is proving very popular, we are able to use this area for additional stand setups now we have more space available and the grass is now well established.
June 2024
The club purchased a new sit-on mower to deal with the lower area we seeded. This is also being used to tow the heavy traps into position and also provides transport via a purpose made seat with wheels for less able bodied members.
